Kiwanis Festival Results

Sacred Music Society Chamber Choir has won the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto Class 7 - City of Lincoln Trophy, and will advance to reprsent Ontario at the 33rd National Music Festival which will be held at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown from August 20 to 22, 2004.

Sacred Music Society Chamber Choir Chosen to Represent the GTA

After competing in the Kiwanis Festival the Sacred Music Society was awarded three first place finishes. The Sacred Music Society Chamber Choir has also been chosen to represent the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto at this year's Provincial Festival in Class 7 - City of Lincoln Trophy competition.

Sacred Music Society Expands to Peterborough

Sacred Music Society is delighted to announce its Opening in Peterborough in April 2004!

In collaboration with His Excellency, Most Reverend Nicholas De Angelis cfic, Bishop of the Diocese of Peterborough and in collaboration with Mr. Michael Langlois, Director of Education of Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board, a unique ‘Pilot Sacred Music Program’ – Phase I, has been ongoing in three Catholic schools in Peterborough for the past three months. The young people there have been given top quality artistic direction, musical instruction, history of church music and training during in-school programs.

The response from the children, parents and teachers is extremely enthusiastic and augers well for the future! Some of the comments from parents and teachers: ‘this is just what we have been waiting for!’; ‘my child has never been so excited about music’; ‘what a wonderful opportunity for children.’

The Sacred Music Society, under the tutelage of Maestro Uwe Lieflander, the well known Canadian Conductor/Composer & Director of SMS/WYD2002 Choirs, is growing!

Phase II of this unique Pilot Sacred Music Program for youth is the formation of the first ‘Children’s Choir ‘ in Peterborough, located at St. Peter-in-Chains Cathedral. They will sing their first mass on Easter Sunday, April 11th at 8:30 AM. Don’t miss it!
