Mission
The central purpose and role of Sacred Music Society is defined as:
The Sacred Music Society (SMS) seeks to preserve and foster a heightened
appreciation of quality sacred music, through scholastic instruction and
choral performances, and to encourage its use in liturgical settings.
Such music is considered sacred by association with;
- A sacred text;
- That which is set apart, or separate from the worldly or profane;
- What is truly art;
- A particular tradition.
The aforementioned classification has been derived from the spirit of
the Second Vatican Council documents.
