Mission

The central purpose and role of Sacred Music Society is defined as:

The Sacred Music Society (SMS) seeks to preserve and foster a heightened appreciation of quality sacred music, through scholastic instruction and choral performances, and to encourage its use in liturgical settings.

Such music is considered sacred by association with;

  1. A sacred text;
  2. That which is set apart, or separate from the worldly or profane;
  3. What is truly art;
  4. A particular tradition.

The aforementioned classification has been derived from the spirit of the Second Vatican Council documents.

Vision

Sacred Music Society aims to enhance Canadian musical heritage and bring sacred music to people who are not generally exposed to this form of culture. SMS aims to;
