21st Annual Rosary Sunday at Martyr's Shrine a success, with help from the Sacred Music SocietySacred Music Society was once again invited to participate in the annual pilgrimage to Martyr's Shrine in Midland, Ontario. The celebration began with the Ballad of Sainte Marie, and continued with a variety of Marian hymns as the procession of the Blessed Sacrament and the statue of Our Lady of Fatima made it's way to the Papal Altar. The Fourth Degree assembly of the Knights of Columbus formed an honour guard to lead the procession. Several Catholic Women's Leagues and other participants also took part in the procession. The response from the congregation was extremely enthusiastic, with resounding appreciation after the completion of Handel's Hallelujah chorus. The Sacred Music Society, under the tutelage of Maestro Uwe Lieflander, the well known Canadian Conductor/Composer & Director of SMS/WYD2002 Choirs continues to thrive, and we look forward to many upcoming events this fall! Auditions for the Sacred Music Society Choir continue to take place after rehearsal each Monday evening at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
